My Content Creation process

Why am I documenting my Experience?

In my last role, I spearheaded product-led growth, refining our go-to-market strategy by leading sales, product, and marketing efforts. I have hands-on experience in this area and wanted to document my journey. Now, I am recalling all the key learnings, tips, and challenges of implementing a product-led growth motion.

It was also a way to reflect on and apply this experience to my next PLG startup.

My Current Content Creation System

Researching the SubTopics

I start by identifying popular topics, such as PLG and CAC LTV, PLG and paywalls, or PLG and paid ads. I recall my experience on these topics. To get some background information, I use Perplexity and review top Google pages, often providing a definition or a 101 overview of the subtopic.

Writing the Newsletter

I use a voice dictation tool like Wispr to record my experiences verbally in text. I focus on sharing tips and tricks that my newsletter subscribers will find valuable. Once I publish the post in my newsletter, I update the blog article by adding more intro and foundational content to satisfy SEO purposes.

Creating YouTube videos:

I also create YouTube videos using the same voice and tone as my text. I use Veed.io, which is a bit pricey. (If anyone can suggest any alternatives) Veed.io offers a video editor, a library of stock videos and background music, and a subtitle generator. I've created my intro and outro.

YouTube is great because it's in itself as an SEO and slowly gathers views. My channel is https://youtube.com/@garyyauchan, where I share what I have learned about Product-Led Growth.

I create diagrams for my blog post and thumbnails for my YouTube video on Google Slides.

The Process

It takes about 90 minutes to two hours to create a blog post and a YouTube video and share them on Slack communities and LinkedIn. I do this about 4-5 times a week. In the last three months, I've created 60 videos. These videos are gradually gaining views due to YouTube SEO, and my blog posts are attracting traffic, though it's challenging to rank on Google without comprehensive 101 content.

After sharing my content, people often reach out to me to speak at events. I'm still early in my creator journey, and there's been a lot of trial and error. Once I had the foundational elements in place (intro, outro, thumbnail design, and a quick text creation process), my focus shifted to enhancing existing content.

Future

For my blog, I will consolidate multiple posts into categories and topics to optimize for Google SEO rankings.

For YouTube, I will create b-roll to use as stock videos and improve production quality.

Also, I want to test YouTube Shorts.
